Incorporating The Eight Limbs of Yoga into Daily Living - Yoga Video

Ashtanga Yoga teacher Maria Boox talks about the Eight-Fold path of Yoga as described by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras. She says in this video that people who practise yoga should know about the Eight Limbs of yoga to make their practice complete. The teacher should, over time, provide clarity integrate into the student basic principles such as being truthful to oneself and others, cleanliness, contentment, compassion, cleansing, the study of the old scriptures of yoga, and the humility to acknowledge a power greater than us. Brahmacharya, for instance, doesn’t mean refraining from sexual activity, but being balanced in life, learning how to consume one’s energy, and knowing the difference between need and greed. Maria also speaks of her favourite chapters of the Yoga Sutras about dealing with obstacles, and how in daily life we come across all kinds of people. We should be undisturbed by others, for so much of our energy is focused on what others do, think, and say that we put more energy into others’ lives than into our own. If we could do that, Maria says that the world would be so very different.
