[Music] he shall become madam serve um yet King James edit I am jagged Payne octane Bonita Margaret a custom home Shandy namaste everyone today we are going to learn how to determine your nari or we can say pulse reading in English nari began is a is an art as well as a science it has been discussed in detail in almost every Ayurvedic text the information in this video is mainly based upon my personal experience as well as an important text which is yoga ethnical it's a medieval India text but it summarizes all the information about the Nadi began in the previous text like Cherokee Sunita a strong rhythm and all other eye you cut yoga texts like you like yoga at novel II understand re began it's very important to understand another principle in our Veda which is Trudeau she said hunt Trudeau she sat on the principle of / - radish means three doshas which are Vata Pitta and kapha so all the diagnosis prognosis and treatment in our veda is based upon these three principles now when these three principles Vata Pitta and kapha are in equilibrium or they are in some never stopped then a person is healthy but if one of the doshas either Vata Pitta kapha is aggravated then disease can happen and this is the foundation the cause of the disease aggravation of one of the doshas now the pulse reading determines the condition of guapa and kapha so it tells you the condition of the doge that's the way it connects with the fundamental theory of hydrilla we determine the pulse using the three fingers first finger index finger middle finger and the ring finger and we use tip of this finger rather than front part the tip is used because tip is more sensitive to palpate if you're doing it on your own you will use one arm normally for male we use the right arm for female it's the left arm but here just for convenience I will demonstrate on the left arm now on the left arm will use the latent side of the arm on the side of the thumb this is little side the side of the thumb and if you go down the thumb you find a bony protuberance this bony structure this is known as a reed eel a styloid process so this is the radial bone and this is radial styloid process so if you feel this bony protuberance you want to put your middle finger just underneath it like this and put index finger on the top and the ring finger on the just below it so these three fingers so like this now the distance between the fingers depends upon the width or the size of the finger of the patient so you can determined if they're very narrow then you put them closer if they're wider than your fingers then you have some distance between these three fingers so just beneath the radial styloid process middle finger and then index finger and then the ring finger so it goes like this and if you see i'm putting the tip on it and then you start feeling the radial pulse now once you position is right then try to feel that pulse a good pulse reading takes a lot of time to learn aim to observe the rate of the pulse the length of the pulse the width pulse and the rhythm of the pulse I don't want to make it too complicated here but for a simple household aim for the rate see if it is slow or fast if it is short or long these you can understand easily with some practice so just to give an idea if the pulse is short it means there is pathogenic cold in the body and if the pulse is long this is pathogenic heat in the body if pulse is rapid is heat in the body and if pulse is slow there is pathogenic cold in the body so this is a good way to start reading the pulse once you get better at feeling the pulse I will give you more information in the second video about how to determine what up with and kapha using the same method so but I want you to spend at least a few weeks in practicing the skill of palpating the pulse using the tips this palpation will get better with time you know the you're observing the flow of the blood inside that vessel and through that vessel through that information you judge whether the pulse is empty you full or stingy or greasy or it it's as looks like vision or like a peacock or like a frog or like so many other animals like snakes so but this will become more complicated and I'll cover in later stages but the first thing is first and which is try to palpate practice this art of palpation feeling the pulse once you get the feeling of the pulse just become easier I'll see the next video very soon thank you very much
