[Music] motto share so today we're going to look at assists or more subtle versions of assists and yoga particular body yoga principles work um often assisted Dinah's are sort of hands-on kind of rural moving people around I think there's other ways to do it so Nastia has agreed to help us today spasiba double page elevator nasty it doesn't speak that much English so you might hear a bit of Russian if we need to but it's actually really good example so I want to show that actually it's to make the body that teaches here rather than the words and so new works abroad a lot and doesn't always have a translator with me next to me you do teach with the body so I'm gonna show a couple of you were people sure's and the first thing we do you know when we're teaching obviously we were conveying it for our own bodies so um literally she's never done this before we just stepped into it in the moment ago so I'm leading her with my body by showing her and connecting with her emotionally and making eye contact and then I'm looking at posture I might emphasize something to do so she needs a little more extension so I'm emphasizing that yeah and I can show things just with the hands and she gets it right she doesn't have to be told this she's not an expert in this she just sees me gesturing there we go perfect I'm also coming from this emotional place of support and encouragement so she's especially she on-camera is what I did this when any student is just here here so I could touch and for this I would always ask permission and but often you don't need to I could just kind of gesture that doesn't so I'm using I'm showing her we've just you in little movements without necessitating touch which may not always be helpful if I did touch I always ask and I wait for response that's critical so I'm gonna say emotional which is may I in Russian it's very nice little word you know you can you can do it with a look when you know a student and and what I'm waiting for is a verbal and non verbal agreement so she's not saying yes and you know going into fight-or-flight yeah so more so so I'm waiting for the real yes did you see what happened she was like yeah I got compliance but then after that she was like yeah cool now I'm still not hundred percent sure because she might have conditioning I mean she has to say yes the men in an authority or something right but um it's a lot more sure now than if I just grabbed US huh so I did it non-verbally that time just to confirm again with a little like may I yeah yeah so and here I did sort of minimal touch and you know the touch for me is often the back of the hand or you know using the back of my hand so it's not too kind of intimate or delicate yeah and I'm also doing it in my own body as I work with her so now I could also add an image right this is almost like last resort I almost never have to touch I can use an image like Songza Sansa ah son sons his son in Russia so you see how that totally changes her embodiment is like radiance I might say Cristina legend kresteva so it's beautiful so I'm encouraging her and I'm using an image so you know son is a pretty universal image there's other images I could use but this is pretty good one universally yeah duh now no posture sir dis that okay great so she's doing no posture which I literally just showed about 30 seconds before we turn the camera on and she's doing it quite differently for me so there's a I want to show her that different because it shows some of the patterns yeah so I might say this way this yes here yeah duh so just by pointing I can show that yeah now put it aside another way of doing it might be to sometimes I turn into a game I'm like okay so I've turned it into just something a bit fun yeah and with this one I might you know sort of show it like wow yeah so here that is most of all I'm putting in my own body just allowing her empathy and a mirror neurons to do the work for me so I'm adjusting her without room yeah see see this is an exposure pan happening here so I'm adjusting without having to touch or do any adjustment so I think adjusting with words with embodiment with body language with imagery is often a lot better than sort of just grabbing her and moving her and then she doesn't do it for herself which isn't in the health Horror Show spasiba spasiba [Music] so I hope you enjoyed that video if you did you could
