RITUCHARYA or seasonal routine is prescribed in Ayurveda with the change of seasons. As the weather changes from one season to the next, our body is affected by the dryness or moistness or cold or hot weather leading to allergies, poor digestion, dryness etc. In India where Ayurveda originated, 6 seasons comprising of 2 months each is described. Spring in India runs from Mid March to Mid May. If you live in North America then depending on which area you can have 4 seasons and spring runs from March 21st to June 21st, for 3 months. As the snow melts so does the Kapha in the body that has been built up in winter leading to allergies. A diet and lifestyle modification to adapt to this change can go a long way in alleviating symptoms and detoxing the body to maintain optimum health.
