To be a vegetarian is g0ood to achieve the yoga goal and to get the good result in the yoga. Because to do the asana, one has to do the yama niyam, as a yoga has 8 like of yoga is there, before practicing the asana, one has to do the social discipline that is the yama, one has to do the personal discipline, that is the niyam in the social is there is the ahimsa, satya asteya, brahmacharya, aparigraha. In the personal disciple soch, santosh , tapas, swadhyaya, isvara pranidhana. These are the disciplines given. In that one is the social disosiple is ahimsa. Ahimsa is a very important component of yoga. One should not do any harm for their personal purpose. In that context vegetarian food is very good but if your goal is that you want to practice the normal surya namaskar, if you want to do the pranayama, you can do all that, physically you will get all the benefits but ultimately goal of yoga is the mindfulness . Mindfulness is needed in all aspects in life, that is how you have obtained the food, how you are eating, not only non-veg, but vegetarian also if you are eating in a very hurry burry mind, it will create a problem. So you have to eat the food in a proper way. The food should be sativik. It is not that in the vegetarian food you are putting a lot of masala and that it is not going to harm, it is not like that. It should be satvik. Easy to digest food, non-veg food is not meant for the male because it takes a lot of time to digest and if your energy is going only to digest the food , then how will you practice yoga and meditation, in that reason, vegetarian food is required for a yoga practitioner for better results.
