Glossary: deer-pose
How to
- Begin seated on the mat with your legs extended straight in front of you.
- Bend your right knee and bring the sole of your right foot to the inside of your left thigh.
- Slide your right foot back, bringing your shin parallel to the front of the mat, with the right knee bent at about 90 degrees.
- Bend your left knee and bring your left foot back alongside your left hip, with the left knee also bent at approximately 90 degrees.
- Ensure both sit bones are grounded and the torso is upright. Adjust the position of your legs if needed to find comfort.
- Place your hands gently on your knees or thighs, and close your eyes or gaze softly forward.
- Focus on deep, slow breaths, allowing your inhale to expand the belly and your exhale to soften any tension.
- To exit, gently lean back, extend both legs straight in front of you, and shake them out to release.
