[Music] hi I'm Rachel Scott and there are three steps to doing an awesome verbal assist so first of all verbal assist in your yoga class are an excellent way to really personalize video to practice group students so your students really feel seen by you it's also a really great way to make an adjustment for somebody from across the room so for example I see George way over there I can't get to him in time that I can go like hey George I'll go back so he can hear me and an active benefit to that is that everyone else in the room who hears me give that assist - George is gonna tend to do what I'm saying so here are the steps step number one use your students name so yes that means that I have to know George's name so it's a little extra work well a lot of extra work for us to know our students name but it really adds a personal touch in our yoga class and makes our students feel like we have a personal relationship with that which is super important okay step number two give your verbal assess to George using an action command that is no fluff no I want you to or could you see if or whatever but really George draw your front ribs back clear step number three and this is the important one that often gets missed is to acknowledge him when he's got it so you can say something as simple as good job or that's it or yeah that's awesome something that makes them feel that you've seen them incorporate that assistance of your body so step number one use your students name step number two one clear actually command to help them step number three if knowledge oh now here's the next part of it what if they don't get it what if I say George draw your friend moves back and nothing that's alright so you have a couple of options here you can item state to George in a different way George lift your back prints up or you could say look at me George maybe George is a visual guy who doesn't hear things as well so you say look at me like this or look at this student like her you can also say no worries let's talk after class about it and also sometimes you got to know when to walk away it's quite possible that George is doing these dirtiest to drive spreads in and that's all he's got today in which case good work man so those are your three steps to getting an awesome verbal assist play with it let me know how it goes for more tips and resources check out Rachel yoga calm [Music] Oh [Music]
