all right now we're going to move into pigeon i'm going to show you a couple options here first thing you're going to do is put the block in the middle of your mat and then sit on the block with your right outer thigh bring your heel in kind of tight to your groin relax the right knee down from here go ahead and extend your left leg toward the back square your hips turn the top of your left leg face down and this is the start of your pigeon position if you can't quite get here your left leg is going to come up a little bit higher like this if this is really easy for you then move the block away and allow your hip to sink toward the ground take a deep breath in here exhale push your chest forward keep the focus of this stretch on your outer thigh and your glutes as you breathe as you inhale and exhale work on getting deeper into this stretch one more breath all right and then just go ahead and roll to your right come out of that and we'll switch sides again you've got the block go ahead and start by sitting on the block with your left outer thigh depending on your hip mobility heel will come closer in if you're more mobile it'll come further out swing your right leg to the back get the top of your right leg to face the ground hug that right leg in square your hips toward the front and then maybe release your hands down but try to keep the weight in the hips here if you shift the weight to the hands you'll take away from the hips and you really want to focus on the stretch for the hips this is really good for anybody who spends time during the day sitting which is everybody so this helps to alleviate a lot of stress on the lower back caused by glute tightness it's also really good for improving your hip mobility so if you're interested in getting better at squats or lunges it's going to help a lot with that one more breath all right and then go ahead and roll out of that
