Yin Yoga Poses | Reclined Butterfly

Reclined butterfly is one of my absolute favorite yoga poses. And when we practice it in yin yoga by holding it for 2-10 minutes at a time, there鈥檚 almost nothing better馃槆

Reclined butterfly benefits the mind and body in many different ways. For one, it is an amazing hip opener, perfect if you tend to have tight hips or if you sit in a chair for most of your day. We tend to store a lot of emotions and unwanted energy in our hips, so by opening them, it helps us release and let go of that energy. Reclined butterfly is also great if you are looking to relax and become more grounded. This is one of my go to poses whenever I may be feeling stressed or anxious. This pose also provides a great stretch to the groin and adductors.

To perform this yin yoga pose, all you need to do is lie flat on your back and bring the soles of your feet together. From there you can let your hands rest by your sides, or have one hand on your heart and the other on your belly.
