Begin by standing in Tadasana (Mountain Pose) with your feet hip-width apart, arms at your sides.
Shift your weight onto your right foot, engaging the quadriceps and rooting down through all four corners of the foot.
Bend your left knee and bring the heel towards your left buttock. Reach your left hand back to grasp the inside of the left foot or ankle.
Raise your right arm forward and up, parallel to the floor, with your palm facing down. Engage your core muscles to support your balance.
Inhale deeply, and as you exhale, press your left foot into your left hand, lifting the foot up and back. Extend your left thigh behind you and lift your chest.
Keep your gaze (drishti) focused on a fixed point in front of you to maintain balance.
Hold the pose for 5-10 breaths, maintaining even and calm breaths.
To release, slowly lower your left leg back to Tadasana. Repeat on the other side.
