Instructions

This video will explain in detail the differences between the 2 most common yoga styles. ( Hatha & Vinyasa )

And basic safety guidelines

By using my videos, you understand and agree that I don't have any liability to you for any injury or loss you may suffer in connection with any content on this channel.

It is impossible to address every health condition separately and of course even without having a direct live contact with the student, so I won't start saying who can and who can't do this practice It's not always black and white. And actually it's almost never black and white. As a rule of thumb though...

Yoga practice should never make you feel bad or cause you any pain. So if something causes you pain, dizziness, weakness, headache, or other symptoms of illness first of all stop and make a break. Then think what might have gone wrong...

done an exercise not suited for you (your physical, health condition or your body type etc..) OR overdone it (did something for too long or too quickly without preparing your body, maybe skipped a level or two) OR done something wrong ( did not follow the alignments or used force ,did not breath correctly etc..) So if you do feel any of these symptoms ,it does not automatically mean you need to drop yoga or this practice. Apply your best Judgment and seek for advice to understand why you had a bad experience. Learning is always a process and unfortunately it's impossible to avoid mistakes completely in this process. I will do my best to guide you to a GOOD AND SAFE EXPERIENCE, but please keep your personal judgment turned on, because it's the only way to get there, When we both think about your safety.

Steps

Transcript

hello dear friends today we would like to address a very common question that we often hear from beginners or from people who want to start doing yoga but aren't sure where to start so hopefully today we'll make the differences between hata and Vinyasa yoga clear of course you don't need to marry a certain style but knowing the differences might help you understand which style is more likely to meet your needs so what are the differences between hata and Vinyasa [Music] yoga is relatively slow paced and gives the practitioner more time to experience each pose and its effects but also to adjust every position if needed which develops mindfulness and awareness over time normally each pose is being held between 30 seconds to 1 minute or even longer this time also the instructor has more time to explain the nuances of each position or exercise and also give guidelines to how one should breathe all these factors make hata suitable for beginners on the other hand focuses on constant movement which engages the body strongly but leaves less time for adjustments and explanations but the high Pace has its benefits too Vinyasa is more demanding physically which boosts our metabolism and engages the cardiovascular system it builds more heat in the body and makes you sweat more so in a way it's a more intense workout in Vinyasa the movement is always connected to the breath which helps to develop a steady rhythmical breath even when the body is engaged in physical activity this helps to relax your nervous system and eventually calms our mind so after we mentioned some of the technical differences we can dive a bit deeper it's important to understand that Vinyasa yoga is a subcategory of Hatha Yoga simply said it's hata yoga with a shifted emphasis so welcome to the Matrix Vinyasa yoga is hata yoga that's why it's sometimes also being called vinyasahata as an indication of being a hata yoga in the Vinyasa Style a bit confusing right so let's go back to the start what is Hatha Yoga Hatha Yoga is the use of physical exercises which includes a variety of postures movements breathing exercises and cleansing rituals to purify and strengthen our physical body and cultivate and balance the energy flow in it of course there is a mental aspect to the practice the physical exercises prepare our mind for meditation which helps to liberate ourselves from the physical world Hatha Yoga is meant to be practiced mindfully and aims to train and expand our awareness so we can Thrive towards our goals and of course feel the unity of the universe so basically Vinyasa uses all the same tools for the same goal but lays the emphasis on the movement and its connection to the breath while Hatha emphasizes mindfulness this table summarizes all the differences we've discussed in this video I hope this will help you understand the Styles better and make the right choices for yourself thank you for watching namaste if you enjoy our content please hit the like button and to get notified on our new uploads
