Instructions

Sarvangasana or shoulder stand is a yoga pose wherein the whole body is balanced on the shoulders. Sarvangasana influences the functioning of all parts of your body. This asana is highly beneficial in maintaining the mental and physical health and is also referred as ‘Queen of asanas’. In addition to stimulating the thyroid gland, this pose also relieves stress and depression, improves digestion, opens the shoulders and neck, and strengthens your legs, butt, arms, and abs. [Music] Namaste welcome to yoga and you this is Diva a freelance yoga instructor based in Chennai we are here at the beautiful rangate yoga studio and in the previous episode I have demonstrated viari the simplified version of shoulder stand but now I'm going to be demonstrating the actual sangas now so the difference between the two postures there's a very slight difference but it makes a huge difference so let's see how to do the posture so to begin with surang gasana again lie down comfortably on your back and bring your legs all the way up just like in P the so inhale bring both your legs up and slowly bring both your legs up towards the sky so let me show you the difference here so for viu thei your hips wear way too lower just like this so my chin and the chest are apart and for sangas not the actual shoulder stand you push your hips all the way forward and bring your chest closer to your chin and elongate the lower part of your body creating nice inversion so your blood is inverted here just keep your breath normal and hold the posture for as long as you can strengthening your shoulders here hold it for five 4 3 2 1 and to release gently bend your knees and bring yourself down take it really slow and nice and relax your legs andas [Music]
