Transcript

hey welcome to this mini yoga philosophy video with Bert as well where we're beginning then this exploration into the niyamas and the niyamas are the second of the eight limbs of yoga and the first one is the practice of soja the practice of Socha is all about them Purity and this cleanliness and we can then apply this principle and this philosophy then to so many parts of our life probably an easier way to think of it and to practice it is then thinking about of the space that you are in and if we are in a really messy space that's really going to distract us and it's really going to take us away from our practice it's going to take us out of the present moment because I don't know about you but if I'm ever like in a messy space or I'd be looking around thinking I need to do that that needs putting away I need to to do that I need to sort that out and it's a distraction I'm not then in in the present so instead can we be organized can we be tidy can we we be clean with our space can we be respectful of it as well and actually then think about the importance of our surroundings and placing ourselves in environments that are calming and welcoming and soothing and restorative as well so we can then like I said apply it to then our physical space and how we take care of it and also just being really mindful of the environments that you put yourself in so are you maybe showing up into space so it's like physical spaces and environments where you don't feel safe where you don't feel seen when you don't feel heard where you don't feel valued maybe those spaces are toxic maybe they're not for you maybe they never were but it's really being mindful of where you are exposing yourself to and how is that then affecting you and really kind of thinking of this sense of um Solitaire this cleanliness and this Purity as a really high vibrational way of being as a plus than a low vibrational way of being we can think of it as well in the practice of how we show up to our yoga practice and how we look after the space that we practice in whether we do a yoga Asana whether we do a meditation are we showing up to our Maps being respectful it's a Sacred Space that we're entering or are we walking with our trainers on over the map are we not cleaning or am I after we've used it are we just tossing our mat to one side and again like I said thinking about the space that you're doing it in can you instead maybe set the space up even if it's not a room that you have but could you maybe light a candle could you make sure that it's clear that it's clean that it's tidy as well our environment is everything you only think of if you went to try and do a meditation in a nightclub it's not the right environment for what you're trying to tap into and what you're trying to welcome in so be mindful of that another practice associate is thinking about then what we put on our skin what we put in our bodies as well like is it harmful or is it healing and being mindful then about consumption are we consuming things mindfully are we eating things mindfully are we really conscious of what it is that we're consuming then it's going to make us feel vibrant and feel nourished or is it something that's actually going to deplete our energy and leave us feeling then not so good and again completely personal and preferences as well but just they get in to explore that and then also just being really mindful of the ways of being that you expose yourself to are they Pure or are they the opposite of that how do they make you feel and so yeah be mindful of environments but also situations and also around then different people as well noticing how then things affect your thoughts and instead how what are your thoughts like maybe then there's some work to do on more healing and maybe working through some triggering thoughts or maybe the way you speak to yourself isn't rooted in the practice of ahimsa which is the first of the armas which is non-violence so if you are harmful with the way you're speaking to yourself we can start to see then that's not we're not creating a mental home researcher for ourselves which we're so deserving of and again just highlights the things that we're maybe we need to do the work thank you so much for watching this video and dipping your toe into the practice of Socha thank you for joining but as well and we look forward to seeing you on another video
