Instructions

Sukhasana is a simple cross-legged seating posture in Yogasana. As the name suggests, Sukhasana has a comfortable and calming effect on the practitioner.

The posture is best suited to practice meditation and pranayama and also to perform exercises for the neck, shoulder and eyes. Sukhasana strengthens the spine and gives a good stretch to the knees and ankles.

Sukhasana Sit down with legs spread straight in front of you Bend the right leg at the knee and place it on the left thigh Bend the left leg and place it over the right thigh Rest your arms stretched over the knees Make sure that both knees are firmly touching the ground Keep the spine straight Then relax and close your eyes Breathe normally This is only a basic sitting posture By little practice you can remain in the posture for long and make the whole body relax Those who find difficulty sitting in 'Padmasana', can adopt 'Sughasana' for meditation
