Restorative yoga is namely recognized by its usage of props within the practice. But there are also many benefits to the practice as it is rooted in the ancient realm of purely "resting." When we learn to let our bodies recuperate, whether by resting against blocks, bolsters, or blankets, we can form a deeper sensation in our bodies that allows our muscles to be more flexible, more stretchable, and this can help greatly when it comes time to commit to other physical practices.
