Transcript

hi my name is Elizabeth gross I'm a soma Vita Thai yoga therapist and the founder of Dharma week a business dedicated to traditional yoga therapy for modern living and I'm going to be talking to you in this video about the Avianca cell foliation practice and how to set up your space and what ingredients you'll need for your ritual so first up is setting up the space I always set a yoga mat on the ground and what's on top of it will be a sacrificial towel so this is a towel that you do not mind getting oily because it's gonna get really oily and if you started practice doing this a few times a week or a month then you'll just be using this towel for your practice so just know that you can knead that and then you'll be needing a hot plate so I got this one very cheaply online and this is going to be plugged into a plug so you'll need an outlet close by as well and this will keep the oil that you'll be using on your body warm so I always keep it on the warm setting and no no hotter than that because you don't want the oil to be extra hot you want it to be manageable because you'll be rubbing it on your skin but you'll need that to maintain the warmth throughout the 45 minutes maybe more or less than you'll be doing this practice so the next ingredient that you'll need is a kind of glass or ceramic ware that you can keep your oil in and that you place on your hot pot inside if this is going to go your oil I have a product line called selfie Botanica radical self care products and in it I make Abhyanga elation concentrates which is a herbal infusion based on your dosha of different herbs and this will be specific for different people's individual needs so you can contact me if you want support and to get an oil blend that works for you through selfie Botanica but if you are using a concentrated blend you'll want one tablespoon of your concentrated oil with three tablespoons of a carrier oil now this one that I'll be using is a sesame oil based blend and it's infused with lavender and different aromatherapy oils so this concentrate one tablespoon of that is going to go into three tablespoons of sesame oil so it's 1/4 cup of oil it's a significant amount because you have a large body and so you want enough oil that it will really cover all the skin that makes up who you are you'll be surprised your body is gonna drink off all that oil and so you want to be abundant with with your oil amount and so then you think about your space the space for your ritual is going to be completely non distracting so there's no people that could potentially come in and out of your space I really enjoy doing Avianca in the evening time or weekend morning when you have a lot of spaciousness to be with yourself and I often invite smoke medicine in through candles or incense and I often have some grounding support so crystals plants things that will just really support you to be in the present moment and grounded in the present moment so it can be any gems or herbs or wonderful kind of holistic supports to keep you in the press moment that work for you the last thing that I love introducing is music and I have a particular playlist you can follow me on Spotify and I have those playlists there for you and it's just really soothing music not too many words really stimulating and supporting your nervous system to really drop into the moment so your favorite music that will help you do that and just be slow and steady and present so those are all of the kind of supports that you'll need you might want to keep a second blanket close by to wrap yourself in at the end of your practice and also a seat because at the end you'll be sitting for a little bit and if you need support for your hips then you might want to sit on something that'll get your hips a little higher more towards the end of your practice so those are all of the ingredients and in the final video of this instructional series I'll be going through the technique of the practice thank you very much
