Hey, y'all! Today's video is another YOGA POSE TUTORIAL & we are learning SIDE LUNGE or SKANDASANA. This pose is great for stretching the hips, hamstrings, & challenging your balance. It is a pose that you will see in yoga sequences occasionally. I like to use this pose myself as a hip opener & transition pose. hey y'all Nico here welcome back to my channel and if you're new here thanks for joining me I'm Nico today's video is another yoga po tutorial where I show you how to get into different yoga poses and today we are working on side lunge or skandasana I use skandasana a fair amount in my classes and scanda is great for opening up the hips stretching the hamstrings and it's also good for challenging your balance a little bit so let's go ahead and begin with a wide stance standing up we're going to do it on the right side first so both toes are facing the right side of our mat and I'm going to start to squat over to the right side bringing my right knee over my right ankle or somewhat over your right ankle over towards your right ankle your hands can be at Heart Center spine is nice and long here keeping this left foot flat or we'll start to bring our left toes to face the ceiling you can always keep that left foot flat if this is a lot for you or a lot on the hamstring you already start to feel a stretch in that hamstring good right foot is nice and flat grounding down through the right foot and the left heel now if this is enough for you you can stay up high or if you're feeling comfortable you can start to drop the hips down low so hips are down low again keeping our spine long left toes are facing the ceiling you can always also challenge yourself with a bind so if you like to bind you can bring this right arm back around behind you left arm comes around to meet the right and just trying to keep those hips off of the ground my hips are very low and maybe just a couple inches from the ground let's do it on the other side so I'm G bring my hands underneath me come back up to my wide leg stance let's do the same thing on the left so shifting our weight over to the left side bringing that left knee over towards the left ankle hands are at Heart Center spine long keeping that right foot flat on the ground or you can start to lift the right toes to face the sky you can stay up high or lower the hips down again spine stays long right toes facing the ceiling grounding down through the left foot and the right heel and if you want to bind we reach around with this left arm and grab around with this right hand there you go okay so that completes our skandasana tutorial one of my subscribers asked me to do this tutorial so if that was you thank you if you enjoyed this video make sure you like it leave a comment down below also leave a comment about what type of poses you would like me to do a tutorial on next don't forget to like share and and as always thank you for watching peace of love
