[Music] legs up on the wall pose this is a yoga posture called viparita karani which is extremely useful to relax the body to help the circulation as blood can flow easy to the heart it's a modification of shoulder stand for those not comfortable lifting the hips and being on the shoulders it has the similar benefit of headstand you can practice this on its own or after postures to relax and restore the body in mind to start the practice simply sit against a wall in a squat if you're right hips to the wall rolled to the left side at that point have both buttocks close to the wall as you slowly lower the body the torso to the ground as you lift the legs up the wall the hands should be below the heart so the heart doesn't have to work as hard just like relaxation pose perhaps the hands are about a foot from the hips if you're more comfortable resting the hands on the stomach that's fine as well allow the heels to touch the wall so the leg muscles can be passive and relaxed if the hamstrings are tight and it's not comfortable perhaps scoot the hips away from the wall once in the posture settle into the body feel the back against the ground start to let go all of the muscles take a few slow deep breaths perhaps letting the belly rise on inhale and fall on exhale you can continue slow deep breath that helps you relax the mind or you can simply at some point just observe the breath as is resting the awareness below the navel or at the center of heart maybe relaxing for the mind as well hold this posture up to a few minutes or a little bit longer as much as comfortable there should be no strain and complete ease in the body and mind when you're ready to come out simply bend the knees to the chest and pause you can stretch one arm overhead and roll to that side and then pause again and fetal posture take a few slow deep breaths very slowly come up by rolling the head over the spine as you ease back to a seated pose sitting on the ground or in a chair perhaps take a few moments after to pause and observe the effects of legs upon the wall pose or be Purita Kuran this posture is also useful to ease symptoms of jetlag or insomnia as well as relaxing sore legs or tired muscles if you did a long workout enjoy the benefits of the yoga practice namaste
