Hi, I'm Caroline with cyberworkouts.com and today I'm going to show you yoga poses for asthma. First, what we want to concentrate on is our breath. So, when we have asthma, we've got to clear the lungs, open up the breathway, and really just kind of loosen up what's going on in the chest. So, one breathing technique is long deep breathing. So if you want, place your hand right over your heart and another hand right over your belly and inhale through the nose and exhale through the nose. And when you're breathing, you want to make sure that you've got your shoulders relaxed. You're breathing all the way down through the back of the throat, through the heart, and into the belly. Nice long slow deep breathing. Just filling the lungs up as much as you can and then releasing all the breath. We just need to slow it down. Now once we slow the breath, let's take it down to the floor. Place the arms down alongside the body. Place the feet firmly on the floor about hipwidth apart. And we're going to start at the tailbone. Now, the whole goal here again is to transfer that long deep breath to our pose. So, we inhale to prepare. Exhale as we roll up, pressing the hips up towards the ceiling. And inhale. and exhaling coming on down. And again, inhale. Exhale. Roll the tailbone up. Then you're back and press the hips up towards the ceiling, squeezing the glutes. Inhale at the top and exhaling as you come down. And we want to open up the chest and breathe as we're performing the bridge. Now, another exercise that we can do is on the front side in a prone position. So, I'm going to flip around and I'm going to come down onto my chest and my hands are directly underneath my shoulders. Elbows are back. And all I'm gonna do is elevate the heart into cobra. And I'm keeping my shoulders down away from my ears. And then I lower down. I inhale to open and then exhale to come down. Now, if you've got a larger range of motion here, you got a little bit more flexibility. You can always lift up into a higher cobra and then come down. And you can perform that about 10 times opening up the chest and coming on down. And when you're finished with the cobra, come back into a child's pose just to lengthen. And those are your yoga poses for asthma. I'm Carolyn for cyberworkouts.com.
