Transcript

The Manipura chakra is the largest of all the chakras. It is located behind the stomach in the solar plexus area. It is very powerful chakra . This is the easiest chakra to feel and sense. During moments of stress, we can feel this chakra as a knot in the solar plexus area. This is the area of all our fears, seen and unseen. The element associated with the Manipura is fire. Fire in the Manipura expands vertically and this takes our consciousness to higher levels However, as long as we hold patterns of revenge, retribution, violence and egoism, the fire in the Manipura chakra will just explode and burn out. This transformation has to take place through conscious effort, through a movement from sensitiveness to sensitivity. Once the student in spiritual path or who wants to transform manipura has passed the Manipura chakra, he is free of reaction. The chief prana or vital force in the Manipura chakra is samana vayu and it is yellow in color. This prana of the Manipura performs the function of digestion. It controls all the digestive organs, the diaphragm, the middle spine, small intestines, parts of the kidney and the adrenals, particularly the adrenal cortex. The endocrine gland associated with this chakra is the pancreas. The Manipura chakra is like a major junction, where several nadis, pranas, the ganglia of the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems all together gather. The Manipura is very responsive to sound, especially the Omkar. We understand this better if we realize that all animalism, and its accompanied violence, comes from the Manipura chakra. Thus, any kind of sound energy or mantra is used to balance the Manipura, and frees its knots and activate the chakra’s higher potential. Most health issuesthat is associated to Manipura are those of the digestive system which includes The element or tattva of this chakra is Agni or fire. From fire comes light, so the sense organ associated with this chakra is the eye. Its organ of action is the anus. We must understand that for fire to burn properly, air is needed which is the element of anahata. So, if we are blocked here and our consciousness is not able to rise further we cannot use it (fire) properly. Psychologically, the Manipura chakra is the seat of power. The power of personality. It dictates our ability to carry out decisions. But it is also the storehouse of great samskaras or memory patterns. So, we have to consciously decide to be free from the grip of these old patterns. The past comes in the form of To counter this , we must put in conscious effort to make decisions free of beliefs and prejudices. The Manipura chakra is described as a shining ten-petaled lotus The petals are dark blue or black.Within the petals is a bright yellow circle in which lies an inverted triangle, signifying the fire element or Agni. The triangle pointing downwards suggests that we keep losing the fire in reaction, signifying the outward movement of sex energy. Through conscious effort, by transforming sensitiveness to sensitivity, we free ourselves of reaction and the triangle changes position to point upwards. The fire now rises up, signifying the transformation or change in direction of sex energy, resulting in a rise in consciousness. Within the triangle is the bija mantra ‘Ram’ which is carried by the lord Vahni or that which conveys fire. The mantra Ram stands for fire. It relates to the perception of form & sight and digestion. The ten petals sometimes look like a blue gas flame. That is, like a blue lotus. The petals represent the vibrations of the ten letters from Da to Pha. They represent the negative emotions that have to be transformed. Outside the triangle are three swastikas which represent the Sun. The Manipura is situated in the solar plexus, which is ruled by the Sun and is the region for self-expression. The lord Vahni, the carrier of the bija, sits in the outer fire region, holding the gesture of granting boons or favors. The lord Vahni is seated on a ram, a male sheep. The ram symbolizes leadership, action, initiative and determination. It stands for power and virility. By the use of the mantra Ram, we awaken the qualities of the ram It gives us the power to deal with every situation in life. The mantra frees us from our weaknesses and makes our strengths more powerful. The most prominent feature of the ram are its horns which rest upon his head. It shows the power of the mental faculties and the brain. The shakti of this chakra is shakti Lakini. She has the power to create and destroy. She is the Devi of speech and has a wealth of knowledge. Lastly,we must always remember that manipura is the area of power. But power does not mean any kind of control over anything or other people. We have a deeply embedded attitude that others - family, friends people, acquaintances should listen to us. This attitude can only be worked upon through long self-observation Once we are free of this attitude, then we experience real power of manipura. Not to control others or other thing or any other situation or to control money But the power to be present in the present moment.
