Transcript

hi I'm Tiffany Cantrell here at yogani studios in Tampa Florida with Blair newcome and today we're going to be demonstrating square a Yen pose you might also know it as double pigeon in a Yang practice and Blair is actually a runner so her hips are pretty tight which most people who are pretty athletic are tighter in the hips she's going to take her right shin and square it so that it's parallel to the front of her mat keeping her foot flexed to protect her knee she'll bring her left foot across the top of the right knee and aim to drop the left knee to the right foot if the knee is really elevated and it gets really uncomfortable or painful you could use a block underneath the leg and as she opened it would relax and she might be able to remove the block later even a blanket if a block is too high could be placed which is a little bit softer material and sometimes it's even nice to place a blanket underneath the foot that touches the right knee for a little bit of comfort there which we won't do in this moment but just as another option if you needed it feet stay Flex to flexed to protect the knees and she could forward fold if she felt comfortable many people that are super tight in their hips just sit upright and another option or variation for someone who might be loose in their hips is to take their left elbow to their left foot and turn their hands into prayer
