This is a Sama Vritti Pranayama class. It is a 12 Minute Yoga Breathing (also known as Pranayama) practice led by Stephen Ewashkiw from Adventure Yoga and this practice is suitable for all students – from beginners to advanced yogis.

Sama Vritti Pranayama – or equal breathing – is a yoga breathing method anyone can use to reduce stress and calm their nervous system. In this class Stephen will teach you how to do this simple practice of breath work, and guide you into this equal breathing technique and then he will let you spend a few minutes practicing it on your own.

Pranayama is powerful breathing technique that helps you have a healthy body and a calm mind. Regular practice of various types of pranayama can improve breathing pattern, calm your mind, and help you find focus in your life and work.

Naomi's I'm Stephen E Raschke from adventure yoga thanks for joining me today this is a chronicle my practice called summer Verity pranayama we'll practice for about seven minutes please find a comfortable seat on something comfortable and I'll see you there in just a moment thanks for joining me for this part of yoga practice today please take a comfortable seat whatever is going to help you be comfortable and sit still for a few minutes today we're going to practice some of Ricki Rani Yama sama you may know that word from your yoga practice it means saying it comes up in yoga in the term Samadhi which literally translates as sameness sometimes we translate it as oneness or enlightenment but Samadhi means sameness we also have a another term for the pose that I generally called Tadasana which is some ass ttohi it means the same on both sides some same variety you might know the word pretty if you've studied the yoga sutra the most commonly quoted yoga Sutra is yogas chittha vritti nirodh aha' yogas chitta vritti nirodh aha' Yoga is the new Road AHA of the varieties of the chitta it's a calming of the movements of the mind so pretty means movements so some of pretty means same movements pranayama generally we translate that is breath work literally it's a restriction or a limitation of the prana which is what the breath work is hoping to achieve but for simplicity sake let's call it breath work so it's same movements of your breath work what that means is that the inhale and the exhale of your breath are the same length but there's another part of your breath that you might not think of very often which is the pause that's called Kunsan it's great if you think about throwing a ball up in the air before the ball starts to come down again it actually pauses in the air at the top of the arc and then comes down and the same thing happens with your breath whether you're noticing it or not but in some of the pranayama we're going to extend that pause at the top of your breath and extend the pause at the bottom of your breath so that there are the same length as your inhale and exhale I'm gonna count your breath to a count of four for your inhale account a four for the kombucha or the pause a count of four for your exhale and a count of four for the khumba at the bottom of your breath the pause I will count several breaths with you and then you can count your own breath for the last few rounds at the end of the summer great deep kana yama i'll have you let go of the focus on your breath and just sit some of these benefits are that it helps you calm down it helps you find focus it helps you be more settled and it helps you bring all of those benefits into your day it's also really beneficial before sleep so you can use this to settle your mind to settle your nervous system to settle your body to prepare you for sleep as well let's get started sit up tall and close your eyes just take a few rounds of cleansing breath taking a couple of deeper inhales and deeper exhales don't worry about counting your breath just breathe then I'll begin with counting your breath for your summer 50 from wherever you are in your breath exhale fully push all of your breath out and let's breathe together sum up daddy pranayama inhale 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 exhale inhale 1 2 3 4 pause 1 2 3 4 exhale 1 2 3 4 four one two three four your exhale for your pasta for continue like this some from creak the round sum of Rigby that you are hot and then do one more full round for the one more full round pink crude the pause at the bottom of your exhale and after that let go of the count returned to normal breathing's work to release any focus on your breath breathe your hands together in front of your heart Anjali mudra thank yourself for making this time just sit with yourself to focus your mind focus your breath I hope that it helps you find more space or peace or whatever lies ahead for you for the rest of your day I hope this pranayama practice helped you find a little bit of peace and steadiness in the moment and I hope it helps you with the rest of your day if you'd like to add a meditation to the end of this practice it's meditation here I recommend and if you haven't subscribed to my YouTube channel yet you can do that by clicking up right over there just by Shiva thanks have a fantastic day
