Steps
Stand with feet slightly wider than hips
Lower down as low as you can go. If you have right hip flexors you may have to prop your bum onto a yoga block. If heels are lifted you can roll and towel to place underneath for comfort.
Hand in prayer at heart centre, use your elbows to press your knees open, getting deeper into the hip flexor stretch.
Lift up through the crown of the head, to keep the spine long.
Press your chest forward between your arms and gaze straight ahead.
Benefits
Improved hip flexibility
Lengthened spine
Strengthened core (implicitly for maintaining upright posture)
here are some alignment tips to help you with melassa starting in a standing position step your feet just a little wider than your hips turn your toes to face out and your heels in and then we're going to send our bum all the way down to the ground bending into the knees get as deep as you can into the pose with your hands at Heart Center in prayer just press your knees open with your elbows instead of hunching through your back and dropping into your shoulders we want to lift the chest to the sky pressing the chest forwards and keeping the spine nice and long if your hips are not very flexible getting this low is going to be a real challenge so come on down and sit your bum onto a block and maybe just use your hands to press your knees open getting into that hip stretch I hope these tips really helped if you have any poses you would like me to break down just let me know in the comments below
