Instructions

Great posture to increase breath capacity, open side body, ribs, shoulders, hips and low back. It can also build some heat. You can do this in a static hold, or create a flow, moving back and forth from side to side, using breath to coordinate the movements. Side opening is under-utilized, but can be very healing to the body and breath.

Steps

  • Seated Side Bend (Parsva Sukhasana or similar variations)
  • Static holds for deep stretching
  • Dynamic side-to-side flow coordinated with breath
  • Focus on rib cage expansion during inhalation

Benefits

  • Opens side body, ribs, shoulders, hips, and low back
  • Improved spinal flexibility and posture
  • Relieves tension in the torso and intercostal muscles
