there might be optimal alignments but those alignments may not be what's best for your body knowing when to breathe can be confusing so as a general rule of thumb inhale during expansive movements like when you reach your arms up and open your chest exhale during compressive movements like when you fold forwards or step back to plank respect the limitations of your body social media can make yoga seem like it's one big contortion show and it can often make people feel like they're not doing yoga unless they're doing yoga to the extreme doing more doesn't mean doing better and often times you'll actually get more from the practice if you're practicing from a place of ease instead of a place of force
