a mudra a hand gesture and an asana a yoga pose that will integrate ahimsa on the mat so you can apply ahimsa in your daily life click that notification bell and let's get started so first i'd like you to just take a moment and mountain pose with your feet hip width apart root down through the heels slight tuck of the tailbone shoulders back and down reach down through the fingers lift through the crown close your eyes and just take a moment tune into your breath notice if your breath feels fast slow shallow deep if we take fast or shallow breaths that is not applying ahimsa in our body to apply ahimsa or non-harming in our body it's important to take long slow deep full breaths so notice how you're breathing today naturally then begin to take long slow deep breaths deepening your inhales and lengthening your exhales maybe apply ooh jay breath breathing in and out through the nose only notice what's going on in your mind notice if the thoughts are embodying this concept of ahimsa are you thinking harmful thoughts about yourself about others or are you practicing ahimsa in the mind thinking peaceful loving thoughts just notice how you're feeling physically mentally and emotionally when you're ready you're welcome to open the eyes we're going to practice warrior one pose so from mountain pose at the front of your mat take a big breath in and exhale step your right leg back bend your left knee reach your hands up driving the left knee forward pressing your right heel back into the mat tucking in the tailbone navel to spine shoulders back and down i'm going to show you padma mudra lotus mudra so take a big breath in exhale press your pinkies and thumbs together and open up your other fingers like this this is a lotus mudra you can find a focal point to gaze at focus your eyes on a drishti or maybe close your eyes and visualize the lotus flower floating above mud and mulch maybe take a moment think about the symbolism of that lotus flower imagine yourself overcoming desire attachment anything that may cause you to create harm in this life and imagine yourself like the lotus flower rising above any negativity any harmful thoughts or harmful actions harmful words rising above all of that we're going to take a big breath in big breath out straighten your left leg reach your hands high above you we're going to do that three more times big breath in
