All about Yoga Alliance Teacher Training Courses

namaste everyone and welcome to my channel sabnas yoga diary in this video i am going to be talking about yoga alliance teacher training certification so we will basically cover what is it um what is the role of yoga alliance in the basically uh certification process of teacher training uh programs uh what is the difference and value it brings uh to the teacher training program and is it worth what are the pros and cons of the yoga alliance um teacher training programs and is there any other alternative to yoga lines um teacher training programs so this is all we are going to cover in this video um so yeah without any delay let's start the video [Music] so yoga alliance teacher training courses um so yoga alliance is basically a u.s based foundation um i have linked its website they offer a lot of tools and resources on yoga and they are mainly known for the teacher training certification um courses that they basically offer they basically tie up with they don't offer so it's basically on a franchise you know basis so what happens is um difference you different yoga schools across the globe they register with yoga alliance use yoga alliance um and uh they register uh in the registration process they have to give uh the details on um what is their uh training module um what basically going to be the syllabus of the training who is going to be the lead trainer etc etc so they give all the teacher training details that um they want to start and uh there is a fee associated with the registration process there is an annual fee also um so basically they have to register and upon the application uh the yoga lines basically uh reviews and then um either approves or you know rejects the registration and once the school is registered with yoga alliance the training that they start or they do the particular yoga school they can in the certificate that they offer to the students certifying that this particular student has done the teacher training course from this particular center they also have this so so they basically get the seal in the certificate you know that okay so this particular person has uh completed 200 hour or 300 hour or 500 they basically give 200 hours 300 hours or 500 hour teacher training courses so it's basically a certifying authorities you know you just get the seal on that okay you have basically um completed the yoga teaching um from a center which is registered with yoga alliance so that means yoga alliance has done the research registration process and approve the training syllabus of that particular school so that is the whole thing that is how the yoga alliance is basically involved in the teacher training programs of different schools they are which are offering yoga alliance teacher training courses so basically yoga alliance is not directly involved in the teaching process at all yoga alliance is not something which is creating the which is basically planning the uh structure of the class um yoga alliance is just a certifying authority they uh that okay this particular school has registered with us and we have reviewed the uh structure of the class and we have approved it and so this is the basically involvement and just and yes the in the certificate that you get you do have the seal of the yoga alliance that so that whenever you are going to any particular place for teaching you are basically uh you know um applying for a role uh you have a proof that okay you have learned from a an authorized center uh because yoga aligned certificates certificates are basically globally recognized and a lot of centers are you know whenever you look for the jobs and a lot of job requirements basically specify that they need yoga alliance certified trainers so it is a globally recognized um uh training you know uh certification so um so that is the advantage of uh yoga alliance now um let's talk about the uh pros and cons of yoga line certificates so first let's talk about the benefits as i said it is globally recognized so it doesn't matter whether you have done the course in india or any other part of the world if you have the yoga alliance certificate teacher training certificate certifying that you have completed a particular number of hours you are eligible to teach anywhere in the world um so yeah they it is globally recognized that is one thing other thing is um yoga alliance basically yoga alliance teacher training programs uh basically provide a very good alternative um to the people who are not able to learn under the conventional way of you know learning um like if somebody has not gone through uh the university one has not studied yoga through the conventional traditional way of academic learning uh one has not taken any degree they are still eligible but they do have the capability to teach you know they have not learned the traditional you know conventional way of learning uh through the academic thing but they still have the capability of teaching yoga uh then they provide them the way you know way out through which they can uh go for the training uh programs and then they can teach and that teaching will be globally recognized so that is basically a good advantage of having the um yoga line certification these are basically the two advantage one it is globally recognized too you are getting away uh through which you can learn yoga um and you can still become a teacher even though you do not have time or you could not go for the uh you know academic learning okay now let's talk about the uh cons the disadvantage of the yoga alliance teacher training certificate so the first thing is um there will be fluctuations uh in terms of the cost of the training program so it will not be fixed so yoga alliance does not fix the rate of training um training so it basically depends on on the school uh you know the institute which is basically uh going to uh give the trainings so you there will be huge fluctuation so if you are willing to learn under a very good teacher under a very good brand then please expect that you may have to spend good amount of money to get the certification you can get it you can get the uh teacher training programs uh under at a reasonable cost also but the teacher may not be then that experience you know so so whether you learn under a big brand uh under a great teacher or whether you learn under a so-so teacher you know uh with at a reasonable amount at the end of the day you both will have the uh you know same yoga alliance teacher training certificate so basically you both will be at the same level uh document wise but again the training quality will differ so but then the certificate will not say that so yeah so that is one disadvantage uh the second disadvantage is um basically it's a business of area it's a business model um so what uh schools do what institutes do because today a lot of institutes lot of small and big institutes are uh you know issuing yoga alliance teacher training courses but there won't be too many people you know willing to do the teacher training programs so what they have what they do is to you know to fill their seats they have made it open for anyone and everyone that means even if you have zero knowledge of yoga you can still go and uh take the teacher training courses which is i mean which as for me is not appropriate because um a 200 hour course will run for one month two months three months okay so in that short period of time it will not be appropriate to certified anyone to certify anyone who has zero knowledge of yoga you know it is not appropriate to certified such person as a yoga teacher because you cannot become a teacher in one month just one month two months three month learning now you need to practice that for a longer time to become the teacher so ideally uh suppose if i am creating a yoga teacher training program and i want people to register for it what i would do i would want the student who is enrolling for the course to have some minimum knowledge about yoga because i'm not going to cover from abc right i want them to become the teacher so my job would be to inculcate the teaching you know right teaching attitude how to lead the class yoga teaching yoga teacher training course you know you are not teaching them the basics of yoga you are preparing them to start teaching so it's a completely different thing you are not teaching them yoga you are preparing them to become the yoga teacher so the highlight of your basically training should be on teaching skills on bringing the teaching skills in a learner so that should basically be the idea but here when you open it for all you are inviting people who have no knowledge about yoga and then you are certifying them to you know to become or you i mean certifying them as yoga teachers in one month which i feel it is not correct so and it is basic it basically shows that it has purely become a business now i don't know if all the yoga schools are doing the same thing but majority of them are accepting the applications even from the people who have no knowledge of yoga which i feel is not correct so this is another drawback drawback of um [Music] yoga alliance teacher training certificate and the last drawback i feel is there is no test at the end of the training so uh it doesn't matter how the students have learned you know how seriously they have taken the classes or they have taken or not but at the end of the uh training they are being they are still being certified as yoga teachers which is not correct again yeah which is not appropriate to do uh i feel if you are certifying someone as yoga teachers you need to test them at the end whether whatever you have taught they have whether they have absorbed enough of it or not but if if you're just training training training and you're not checking whether what is the state of the students whether they have absorbed enough or not whether uh they have understood uh and are capable now to take the classes um as a yoga teacher you should not be certifying them as yoga teachers which is not happening so basically the current model is you go you pay a good amount of money uh you enroll yourself uh for the yoga teacher training course and then there will be one month two month three men depending on their uh structure and at the end of the training module uh at the end of the training there are no tests you are being certified because you have completed your 200 hour of training that this is basically the structure and of course that the initiative is good but what is happening the current model has a lot of flaws you know it is basically a fraud system um what i mean i i think there should be some involvement of yoga alliance at least in terms of testing you know or something should be there a testing mechanism and there should be entrance exam sort of thing in the beginning so that the quality teaching is given and it is ensured that the students who are learning and take taking the courses and learning the yoga um under the teacher training courses are basically uh at the end of the training they are good teachers you know so which is not really insured that is why you see uh the quality of yoga teaching declining so um yeah that's that's my view on yoga alliance this is completely my view my opinion um and again what i have said you know i'm telling you it may not happen in every center because uh the way you operate uh there is no involvement of yoga alliance there you know um in how they are operating so not all yoga schools may be operating in the same manner some of them may have the test at the end but in general majority of the yoga schools operate in the way as i have mentioned so um yeah that's about yoga lines uh teacher training courses in my next video i will tell you about the alternative way or what is another alternative to yoga lines better alternative to
