Viparita Karani (rest)

Restorative · beginner

How to

  1. Begin by sitting with one side of your body against a wall.
  2. Gently lower your back to the floor and swing your legs up the wall, ensuring your sit bones are as close to the wall as is comfortable.
  3. Rest your arms at your sides with palms facing up, allowing your shoulders to relax and broaden.
  4. Keep your legs straight against the wall, and relax your feet, allowing them to gently fall open.
  5. Close your eyes and focus on your breath, taking slow and deep inhalations and exhalations.
  6. Maintain a soft gaze or close your eyes to enhance relaxation.
  7. Stay in this pose for 5-15 minutes, focusing on the rhythm of your breath.
  8. To exit, bend your knees and gently roll to one side, using your arms to push yourself up to a seated position.
