the third yama is ostia which means non-hoarding or non-stealing ostia invites us to only take what is offered to us and only use what is needed so today i'm going to show you a short yoga practice that integrates one pose one mudra and one mantra to cultivate ostia on the mat so you can integrate ostia into your daily life click that notification bell and let's get started so we're going to start in mountain pose come to the front edge of your mat feet hip width apart root down through the heel slight tuck of the tailbone navel to spine shoulders back and down reach down through the fingers lift through the crown and breathe close the eyes take a moment think about the patterns of ostea in your life maybe ask yourself do you practice ostia often do you usually only take what is needed or do you find yourself wanting more do you feel content with what you have or do you often feel like something is lacking some of my favorite affirmations to cultivate ostia are i have enough i am enough i am content so maybe silently recite those affirmations for the next few breaths when you're ready you're welcome to open the eyes and i'm going to show you hasta mudra bring your hands together like this and open your palms according to yoga philosophy this honors the ancient god lakshmi the goddess of prosperity and abundance so we're going to make this mudra the mantra that is associated with this mudra this concept of ostia is om shreem maha lakshmi namaha om shreem maha so lakshmi a big breath in breathe out shift your weight to your right foot straighten your left leg back behind you reach your arms out in front of you keep your hasta mudra focus your eyes on your hands in front of you and if you'd like to you can think or out loud chant with me oh [Music] take a deep breath in breathe out make your way back to mountain pose hands to heart now we'll practice that on the other side from mountain pose take a deep inhale exhale make your hasta mudra shift your weight to your left foot start just straighten your right leg back behind you variation of warrior three right toes face down lift through the inner right thigh to square the hips focus your eyes on your fingertips and if you'd like to think or chant with me [Music] [Music] take a big breath in and breathe out make your way back to mountain pose hands to heart close your eyes take a moment notice any subtle shifts you might feel in the body and the mind in the heart thank you so much for sharing your practice with me today i would love to hear how you're incorporating ostia on the mat and into your daily life so please comment below and share with me your practice and if you have any questions comments or concerns please comment below i would love to hear from you the light in the honors the light in you namaste
