The word Vinyasa means "breath-synchronized movement". Rachel Wainwright will instruct you to move from one pose to the next on an inhale or an exhale. We add the word Flow, because of the smooth way that the poses run together and become like a dance. This class is designed to cultivate inner and outer strength and flexibility. This practice produces internal heat and sweat that detoxifies, and increases stamina. At the same time this type of practice helps calm the mind.

Featuring music by Rick Coe, Jami Sieber, Temmy Lewis

Steps

  • Cat-Cow variations (spinal waves, circles)
  • Neck stretches and rotations
  • Knee circles (hip mobility)
  • Modified balance poses (e.g., one-legged king pigeon prep / dancer variation)
  • Low Lunge variations with chest opening
  • Forward folds with hand placement variations

Benefits

  • Increases stamina and builds internal heat
  • Detoxifies the body through sweat
  • Improves spinal mobility and flexibility
  • Strengthens core and legs
  • Enhances balance and coordination
  • Calms the mind
