[Music] hello everyone and welcome back to my channel so i have a new setup i'm in a new place so different background um today we're going to be talking about yoga renew and online yoga teacher training so let's get on into it it's going to be detailed it's going to be everything that you need to know before you take yoga renews online teacher training so let's get started okay so as promised this is going to be a very detailed breakdown of yoga renew just what they're about kind of what it's like to take their 200 hour yoga course yoga teacher training course um and then also like my personal thoughts on what i liked and what i didn't like about this online teacher training so let me start with a little bit of background i have been doing yoga for years but it was always something i kind of did for fun so i never really considered actually taking a teacher training when i graduated college is when i started to consider taking a yoga teacher training and i don't know if it was just because i graduated and i wasn't sure exactly what i wanted to do i know i wanted to do physical therapy at some point but i was like what am i going to do in the in-between time and to top it all off covet had just hit so this is where yoga renewed teacher training comes into play so i decided to start looking at yoga teacher trainings but again it was kovid so we weren't really allowed to be in person which is what led me to yoga renew yoga renew is an online yoga teacher training that basically aims to keep yoga education affordable and self-paced yoga teacher trainers can range from anywhere and this is in person it can range anywhere between two thousand two i've seen as high as five and six thousand which is crazy but that's just what it is right now that's just how much it costs to learn how to be a yoga teacher so i came across yogurt and i was like oh my gosh okay this is amazing like it was 400 to 500 at the time i do have price points and i will break that down eventually in this video but at the time i was supporting myself living by myself so i was like okay i need something that's going to be affordable i need something that i can still work a full-time job and support myself and it was the only renewal i chose them i went with it and it was a great decision given the situation that i was in so let's get started on breaking down what exactly yoga renew has to offer you as a new or inquiring yoga teacher um and yes so let's get into it they offer different trainings i started with their 200 hour teacher training they also have a 300 hour they offer yen yoga children's yoga prenatal yoga as well as i feel like i'm missing one oh yes the one the one i'm in right now they're mindfulness course um so essentially these courses all have different price points i took 200 200 hour and then i also enrolled in their mindfulness course which i'm finishing up currently and then i'm also in their beta prenatal course which is really really cool and i'll let you know how you can get access to their beta versions of courses later in the video so i want to break down the price points for each of these courses the 200 hour yoga teacher training starts at about 437 or they give you the option to to do a payment plan for 80 a month and that would be for six months right so that's pretty affordable considering what most 200 hours cost the 300 hour is a little more expensive but still not too too much it is 547 or 99 for six months so like i said a little bit more but it's still affordable considering what you would pay for other yogurt yoga teacher trainings so there are other courses that are like yen and mindfulness and children's i know i'm forgetting one again they're prenatal those all run about 237 for a one-time payment or it's 99 for three months however they do run specials all the time i mean like literally all the time you can always find a code to make any of their courses cheaper i've paid as low as 97 for my mindfulness course and my prenatal course actually i think my prenatal was cheaper because i got the the beta version so yes it's very very affordable and they give you coupon codes all the time so let me start to break down what exactly you get with that money that you pay when you log in as a student you basically have your course broken down section by section by section and in those sections are videos quizzes and information that you have to complete and read over in every single section once you complete it you move on to the next one you can't move ahead um when i started the course you could you could jump around from court like section to section however since i've taken the teacher training it's changed a little bit so you have to do your courses one or your sections one by one by one which is fine um when you log in you'll initially see at the top of your page all the resources that they offer and i will get into that too after that as you go down it kind of gets into the nitty-gritty of the course so you have your yoga and philosophy or yoga philosophy in history excuse me your anatomy and physiology they break down the different styles of yoga which is really important this teacher training focuses more so on haka yoga but it does cover aspects of vinyasa they don't necessarily teach you how to do those styles of yoga but they do touch on the history because it's important to kind of know that just in case you want to venture out after this teacher training and try different things after the different styles you kind of start to get into the actual asanas and the poses and how to teach those poses so with every asana or pose comes a video a written breakdown of each pose and uh pretty much an explanation on how to get people in and out of that pose and they also give you kind of like cues on what to say to your students as you're teaching so you don't have to make this stuff up they literally give it to you and it will always be accessible so it's a really really great tool to have after you get into your asanas and your poses next comes sequencing so sequencing is very important and it's one of those things where you know as a yoga teacher you kind of get to add your own spice onto your sequences because now that you've gotten the base layer of poses now it's like okay i'm gonna make this yoga class fun and i'm gonna make it how i want to make it because that's the autonomy that you have as a yoga teacher teaching your own class so you get into sequences you get educated on what a peak pose is in how to structure your sequences around your peak pose or adding flows into your into your sequences the whole nine so they they give you all the tools to be able to create your own sequence which is really important for the for the assignments that you have to do later to be able to get your certification okay so after that we then get into uh the yoga class experience so they kind of give you information on how to make it more than just a yoga class and when i say that i kind of mean like how can you make this something that people won't forget and if you take the course you will get all of that information after that we get into pranayama and meditation this is where my interests will speak to further research about mindfulness and meditation as a yoga teacher so this is what prompted me to take their mindfulness course they don't touch on a lot but they give you a lot of tools here and since they offer a mindfulness course you know if that does pique your interest they have a whole course on it but beyond that they also tap into or kind of expand upon chakras and they also talk about the subtle energies in yoga which is really really cool because i didn't think that this was going to kind of touch on the spiritual aspect of yoga as well i saw i've seen a lot of yoga teacher trainings that focus more on the awesome portion which is fine a lot of people do look for just the awesome apportion when it comes to learning how to be a yoga teacher however i am a very very spiritual person so it's very important to me that the teacher training dad took kind of married the two concepts because that is originally how it was meant to be so that was really cool i was really excited to see that they get into mudras and they also explain the sanskrit version of each pose they break down how to pronounce it um and how to honor the original culture of which yoga came from which is so cool because again it's just something that can be heavily westernized and so we lose what the true roots of yoga and they do a really good job of kind of connecting those after that they do talk about how to take your life as a yogi off your mat which is amazing because being a yogi is definitely more than just doing yoga on your mat and it's not to say that if you only do yoga on your mat you're not a yogi it just means that there are things that we learn on our maps that we can take with us beyond our map throughout our day and through conversations and relationships after that they also get into the business of yoga so this part is really really important because they give you tools and tips on how to run your business so that is something you also do not have to worry about it's literally written down for you even down to liability waivers which is something that kind of gets lost in the sauce when it comes to being a yoga teacher often we are so excited to teach a class that you don't do the paperwork and you don't handle the legal side of things so they do offer a pre-written liability waiver let's just say they offer the waiver to keep you protected as a yoga teacher it's really really important they also give you information on where you can find good insurance and that's also important you never want to be practicing without insurance i did it for a while i'm sad to say but i did get right and i did get my insurance because it's really really important once i started to teach classes more in my business and i felt a little more comfortable i was like no i have to get my insurance because i cannot afford to be sued with no like you know no backup i mean we all hope that nothing like that happens but you know you just gotta prepare for the worst and hope for the best next at the end you will see a section of lives and calls and this is one thing that i thought was very special about yoga renew so they offer zoom classes once a week and they you can attend them live if you miss them they have a whole library of all the zoom calls they've ever done for yoga teacher trainings that are on different topics but they keep them all in the yoga teacher training so they are always accessible to you it's a lot of good zooms zoom calls that i wasn't able to attend but i was able to see the recording and it really affected me because it's not always about just yoga it's about lifestyle and sometimes it's about healthy eating or just it's such a nice touch it's just so many little things even how to be comfortable as a new yoga teacher i saw a zoom that was related to that and it really helped me out so yeah that's also a good part so here are some things that i think are great benefits of taking yoga renews course one is online so it's self-paced you don't have to worry about being in class at a certain time you are truly able to take this course when ever and however you need to they also send out weekly emails that have playlists for your class for your yoga class that you you teach they include a theme for that week and then they include quotes and asanas or poses that kind of correlate with that theme of course it's completely optional you don't have to abide by these themes by any means but it is helpful because i caught myself in certain situations where i needed to have a sequence ready and i didn't and i'm like oh shoot yoga renew has that email so i i go in there and i kind of look at it and i get a feel for it i'm like okay boom like i'm not starting from ground zero i'm i have a nice foundation built for me already when i need it which is amazing so another benefit is the facebook group so when you sign up to become a student for yoga renew they have a facebook group and this facebook group is compiled of pretty much everyone who's ever taken the yoga renew course and also their facilitators who are also teachers so in this facebook group they really just ask like how everyone's doing if you ever have any questions about yoga anything people are willing to ask and answer they a lot of people post yoga jobs that's one benefit that i find to be amazing because it's literally giving you everything you need step by step i've seen jobs posted in there i've seen uh volunteer opportunities posted in there if you ever have a question about anything related to your business nine times out of ten someone in the the group has already been through that so they'll have an answer for you it's really just a community and since you aren't going to a class in person it's it's nice to kind of have this wide network of yoga teachers who are seasoned and unseasoned and who have sat down and taken that same course with you so it just brings a world of variety and it's just it's amazing i personally i don't even ask questions in there i just like to see like the discourse between everyone and i just i learn and i observe and yeah it's another benefit the information will always be accessible so that was one thing that i was told once you have an account with them all your stuff will be saved you can go back you can watch the videos you can get the flash cards you can look at the sanskrit terms it's everything will remain where it is so it's always accessible to you also again as a member of the yoga renew community you get to try beta courses before anyone else so essentially what that means is if they have an idea for a course they don't necessarily want people paying full price for it yet because they're still trying to work out the kinks as a member you get first pick so you're able to sign up for those courses and kind of get a feel for them you're able to give live feedback and say hey you know i didn't really understand this or i love this part or i would like to see this so it's it's really cool it's really cool to feel like you're almost a founding member of a course and also once the course is finalized you're able to get your certification for that course and i believe you can register it as continuing education but don't quote me on that because i'm not exactly sure which brings me into my next benefit so yoga renews 200 course is yoga alliance approved i believe their 300 also got approved for yoga alliance not entirely sure when i took it it was not approved yeah um let's get into the things that could be better and it's not a lot and i think this is just more so having to take an online course so what i will say one of the biggest downsides is probably the lack of face to face that you get with this course it's online so of course that is the expectation but my business partner and friend she took a in-person yoga teacher training and then it eventually turned into online due to covet but i was told by her that the course when it was in person is just a completely different experience you get to learn hands-on cues which i have no idea about and honestly since kovit it has not been a big thing in yoga in yoga classes so i'm kind of getting saved by that but she was saying like it's really just a different experience and it's something that you just can't squeeze out of online courses as much as you want to as much as you want it to be that it's not and that's okay it's just about accepting the course as it is and understanding there are certain things that are going to be different that was something i was willing to compromise on considering that covet did not give me much of an option this was pretty much my only option at the time and even in person courses that were usually offered turned into online so i had to take online either way another thing i would probably say that i need to get my matcha because i'm thirsty the other thing i kind of wish was different is probably that i know with a lot of yoga teacher trainings you almost have like a audition so to speak more so like you create your own sequence and you perform it in front of your teacher and they're able to give you a lot of feedback then and there they can see how you control will not control but how you facilitate a class i really wish i had gotten that experience because i find myself now not as confident teaching in front of a class and that's because i didn't get the opportunity to ever be tested in front of a class so you know again that's just one of those aspects of yoga teacher training online that you have to sorry my dog is drinking water okay so yes again that's just one of those online things that you kind of just have to roll with the punches it is what it is at the end of the day i knew it was online teacher training so i know certain things that i would and would not get with that experience so all in all i really don't have many complaints for the price and for everything that you get it's really a good it's really a good course and i say that because i signed up for another online teacher training and i basically got scammed when you get what you pay for i only paid 250 for it because again i was trying to be really conscious about how much i was spending because i just was really like broke at the time to be honest with you supporting myself so i low-key guy skin and that could be a whole different video but i do want to keep this video very positive because yoga renew really changed my mind about online teacher trainings because i was going into a scared that it was going to be the same situation and i was going to be out of 500 more dollars and i just could not do that at the time and not get anything in return so shout out to y'all y'all are amazing before this video is over i'm gonna go into the requirements to pass and get your certification for your 200 hour at the end of your course you have a final exam for your 200 hour yoga course everything that you've learned this exam is not hard at all it's not hard at all to be completely honest with you especially when you enjoy the information that you're learning it was not hard at all they don't ask you off the wall questions they are genuinely just asking like did you pay attention and did you absorb this information that we gave you it's not there to trick you and it's not there to make your life difficult it's just genuinely asking what did you get from this course basically after your final exam you then have your sequencing and script assignment this assignment i lost y'all not took me like two months because i was just procrastinating and i had a lot of anxiety about it i just didn't feel prepared to be a yoga teacher yet so i was dragging my feet but if you sit down and you manage your time well you can get it done and you really just have to sit down and commit to it so essentially you have eight scripts and sequences that you have to write your scripts have to include your introduction your how you're gonna close out the class and basically i think it's like two to three cues per pose or more um however much you need to say basically to get this person in and out of the pose in a safe manner and also while minding alignment it really doesn't sound hard and it's not that it's hard it's just you know you second-guess yourself a lot since you don't have that hands-on help in front of you not to say that it's not there because again remember you can get almost 24 7 help through that facebook group and if you email them they'll answer you if you have a question about something i needed that because it kind of helped me to be able to start to get my wheels turning about what does it look like to plan for a yoga class front to back i mean literally everything you need from props how you want to break in the class how you want to get out the class like your themes if you're going to choose to go with themes there's so many different aspects that you can use to create and cultivate like an experience and i think that's what was like giving me so much anxiety because i'm like oh my god all these people are like all these people are depending on me for yo class and this it doesn't sound that big but it felt that big to me so but once you finish those assignments it gets graded by real people please don't think that you know you could just submit anything and they're gonna be like okay you got your certificate when i got my stuff back luckily it was good however i did have feedback and those things that she told me were very important but yes these do get graded by real people because for a second i was questioning that it it gets graded okay but they're really nice with their feedback and it's really helpful so okay so the resources that you get are 50 class sequences like for you to use that are ready to go for a yoga class again the emails with the quotes and the playlists and the teaching tips all that good stuff you get 125 yoga theme ideas that you can build on yourself you get that sample waiver light but liability sheet you get a new client yoga intake form to basically get your clients or your students history their medical history in a sense for like injuries and stuff like that which is really really good access to their music playlist for yoga class you get three ebooks and you get guided meditations included so yes again this is not sponsored this is just me like trying to give you guys resources on how to pick or not how to pick but just giving you my insight on what it was like to take the 200 hour yoga teacher training with yoga renew again remember i got scammed out of my money when i was at my lowest i left that online teacher training with zero knowledge truly truly i was i was scared i was scared for my pockets but young renu came in and they really just did their thing like i i will always be self-conscious about teaching class and i will always be self-conscious about being a teacher however they do provide all the tools and everything outside of that is just up to you since oh wait one more thing one more thing okay so when you sign up when you become a yoga teacher through yoga renew you can be a part of an affiliate program everyone has the ability to do this it's not
