The Gita also provides some guidance on how to eat, including: Eat to live: The wise eat foods that promote good health and a peaceful mind. Eat pure food: Eating pure food can help purify the mind. Concentrate on eating: When eating, one should focus on the food being served to their consciousness. Eat leaves, fruits, and water: According to Lord Krishna, eating leaves, fruits, and water is enough to stay healthy. The Gita also notes that cooked foods that have been left out for more than one yām (three hours), as well as impure foods with bad taste or foul smells, are considered to be in the mode of ignorance. Meat products are also considered impure food.
