Poses

Revolved Crescent

Parivrtta Anjaneyasana

Twist · intermediate

How to

  1. Begin in a high lunge with your right foot forward, knee aligned over the ankle, and left leg extended back with heel lifted.
  2. Bring your hands to heart center in Anjali Mudra (prayer position), pressing palms together.
  3. Inhale to lengthen your spine, engaging your core and keeping your hips square to the front.
  4. Exhale and twist your torso to the right, hooking your left elbow outside your right thigh. Press your elbow against the thigh to deepen the twist.
  5. Ensure your back leg is strong and active, pressing through the ball of your left foot.
  6. Keep your gaze (drishti) over your right shoulder or look upwards if it feels comfortable for your neck.
  7. Hold the pose for several breaths, maintaining steady and deep breathing.
  8. To exit, inhale to untwist your torso, bringing your chest back to center, and step back to Tadasana (Mountain Pose).
