Poses

Shoelace Pose (Yin)

Yin · intermediate

How to

  1. Begin in a seated position with legs extended in front of you, spine tall.
  2. Bend your right knee and bring your right foot to the outside of your left hip.
  3. Cross your left leg over your right, stacking the knees as much as possible, with the left foot coming to the outside of the right hip.
  4. Ensure both sitting bones are grounded evenly on the mat.
  5. Inhale deeply, elongating the spine, and as you exhale, gently fold forward, allowing the torso to relax over the legs.
  6. Keep the shoulders relaxed and the neck soft, with your gaze (drishti) towards the floor in front of you.
  7. Stay in the pose for 3-5 minutes, breathing deeply into any areas of tension.
  8. To exit, slowly lift the torso, uncross the legs carefully, and extend them in front of you. Repeat on the opposite side.
