Revolved Side Angle

Parivrtta Parsvakonasana

Twist · intermediate

Glossary: Parivrtta Parsvakonasana

How to

  1. Begin in Warrior II pose with your right foot forward and your arms extended parallel to the floor.
  2. On an exhale, bring your left elbow to the outside of your right knee, twisting your torso to the right.
  3. Place your left hand on the floor or a block next to your right foot, reaching your right arm up towards the ceiling.
  4. Engage your core, pressing your right shoulder back to deepen the twist, and keep your front knee aligned over your ankle.
  5. Extend through the back leg, keeping it strong and active, with the outer edge of the back foot pressing firmly into the mat.
  6. Turn your gaze (drishti) up towards your right hand if comfortable, or keep it forward if that feels better for your neck.
  7. Hold for 3-5 breaths, maintaining even and steady breathing, then release by unwinding back to Warrior II.
  8. Repeat on the opposite side.
