Glossary: Parivrtta Parsvakonasana
How to
- Begin in Warrior II pose with your right foot forward and your arms extended parallel to the floor.
- On an exhale, bring your left elbow to the outside of your right knee, twisting your torso to the right.
- Place your left hand on the floor or a block next to your right foot, reaching your right arm up towards the ceiling.
- Engage your core, pressing your right shoulder back to deepen the twist, and keep your front knee aligned over your ankle.
- Extend through the back leg, keeping it strong and active, with the outer edge of the back foot pressing firmly into the mat.
- Turn your gaze (drishti) up towards your right hand if comfortable, or keep it forward if that feels better for your neck.
- Hold for 3-5 breaths, maintaining even and steady breathing, then release by unwinding back to Warrior II.
- Repeat on the opposite side.
