Hey there!! Thanks for joining us again today! We're doing the education of all yoga poses. We are going to go through and break down each pose one by one, step by step! These will come out every Saturday morning until we get through them. Then we will move into the doshas, chakras and the yamas and niyamas! So much yoga and we are here for it!!!! Enjoy!

[Music] hello there thanks so much for joining me today my name is stephanie and i will be your yoga teacher for today we are continuing right along with our yoga education from the interactive yoga therapy yoga toolbox today we are on rotated side angle revolved side angle is what i like to call it in sanskrit this is paravrita parsva khana asana this is the core quality of this pose is new horizons the word parsva refers to the size of the torso and is related to the word parshu a curved sword the sword represents the removal of obstacles creating space for new perspectives everyone could use more of this pose the elements that this pose activates are fire earth and air and then it's a really good balancing for the kapha dosha it activates the first four chakras with a focus on the third and the six that's activated with our gaze of course our quote for this one is that i open to new ways of seeing and i embrace all life brings with grace and ease so let's go ahead and get bj out here to demonstrate our rotated side angle pose all right let's get bj to start in a wide stance then we're going to bring our front foot to a 90 degree and our back foot to a 60 to 80 degree whichever feels good for you here we're going to bend the front knee to bring it over our right ankle here creating a parallel line back foot on the floor [Music] we're going to go ahead and bring our hands at prayer position at heart center go ahead and drop those shoulders lifting through the crown of the head and then we're going to bring that left elbow to our right knee revolving the chest towards the ceiling here beautiful you can take this a step further by getting bj to bring his left hand to the block the right hand can go up towards the ceiling our inhales here lengthen us and our exhales allow us to go deeper into our twist you could also take a bond if you are into that sort of thing otherwise here is our revolved side angle to come out of this we'll just ask vj to bring the hands back to heart center and then we revolve forward and go ahead and hinge up and then we can step it to gether awesome demonstration thank you so much for joining us today i hope that you found this useful in this pose we can affirm that our openness allows us to have new ways of seeing and being and it allows us to embrace all life brings with grace and ease thank you so much for joining us we hope you found this useful and we look forward to seeing you back on the mat tomorrow have a great rest of your day namaste [Music] you
