let me get comfortable huh what is going on youtube fam it's your girl abiela akane back with a new youtube video [Music] welcome back y'all i hope this video finds you well we're just gonna get right into it we're continuing our yoga teacher tips series for yoga teachers to be who are looking for a little bit more guidance prior to taking their first 200-hour yoga teacher training as well as folks who are currently yoga teachers and are looking for guidance as they continue along their journey as space holders so today's tip that i'm going to be sharing is a very big question how to market yourself effectively as a yoga instructor y'all this question could go so many different directions she's a biggie for that reason i'm going to keep it short and sweet and break it down into three tips that you can start doing right away as soon as you graduate from your first yoga teacher training and these are also going to set you up for success early on in your teaching career how to market ourselves effectively as yoga teachers the first thing i'm going to say is choose one to two social media platforms to begin to showcase who you are and share a little bit more about your offerings and practices consistently the reason why i say one to two is because if you do more than one to two you are going to find that it's extremely challenging to be consistent on those platforms when i first started teaching i think i had a facebook group personal facebook group facebook for my brands and then i had instagram and then i had my personal yoga instagram and then i had an instagram for my brands and then i had a twitter and then i had a twitter for my brands and then i had a youtube girl it's just doing too much it's giving too much and then i just added tick tock recently it's giving too much so don't do what i did focus on one to two social media channels that you can really pour yourself into consistently now what helps you build consistency on these channels is which ones you like so if it's instagram if you like images if it's twitter because you like text then stay on twitter if you really love tick tock then start on tick tock if you like youtube then start there focus on one to two platforms that you really like and that you can consistently deliver content within second tip for effectively marketing yourself as a new instructor is to focus on refining your skills in a particular style of yoga so if you're a vinyasa teacher and you're a hatha teacher and you're restorative and you do yen and you do comedic and you do prenatal like it's just too much focus on honing and refining your skills in maybe one or two styles of yoga when i first started teaching over seven years ago i really only focused on vinyasa like my whole practice everything that i taught and everything that i practiced was always vinyasa and that was my lane and i refined my sequencing i refined a lot of my skills within vinyasa i was able to create really intuitive sequences that were also creative it was the time that i committed to refining my skills that i was able to create the trap vinyasa sequence which is now trap flow so it helped me build trust among students because they knew they were getting a really well-crafted vinyasa practice from me and it also really allowed me to focus in on one area from there i started to explore more khata and that's where i started to create the divine feminine hatha series or the divine feminine yoga workshop which focused on the style of hata yoga but i really allowed myself to refine and hone my skills in one style so that i could cultivate trust with my students and my ability to guide them through their bodies in that particular practice now the last tip tip number three for marketing ourselves effectively as new yoga instructors is start building your email list asap don't you wait honey because we don't want to be leaning so much into social media where we don't have our own audiences because what happens if social media just poof goes away we'll have our email list that we can continue to nurture and extend our offerings to even if you're not really sure what you're wanting to say or you're worried about like i'm not really that good with the written word or i'm not really good at copywriting that's okay just keep it basic and keep it simple and clear but start cultivating your email list right away start with an email marketing platform that's really simple like mailchimp and create some type of form where you can easily capture emails on your website and you can just remind people of your offerings or extend free value through tips and offerings like that and just start to build up that email list right away because that's something that you own all right y'all those are our three tips for beginning to market yourself effectively when you are a new yoga instructor i know you all got this try not to do too much at once keep it simple don't forget to follow your girl on the gram at yoga by biala if these tips were helpful for you or you have further questions about other tips put them in the comments below i can quickly make a video for y'all and get those questions answered
