hi everyone its crystal pearl and in today's video I'm going to answer the question how to become a yoga teacher so I get this question a lot on what are the steps on becoming yoga teacher and how do I choose a yoga teacher training program first off if you're considered being a teacher congratulations on making that decision if you haven't already i really suggest taking a number of yoga classes so taking different classes at different studios with different teachers and different styles of yoga through this you will learn what you like about yoga and things and the classes that you would like to focus on and it will also give you a good idea of the variety and the different teaching styles there are and different class styles that there are available now as you begin to take more yoga classes I really suggest that you get in touch with your teachers and you start to talk to them and you asked of them where they did their yoga teacher training what they loved about the teacher training what they didn't like about training and asked them what they think could have been improved in the teaching program the basic level yoga teacher training there is is called the 200-hour that is the basic foundational yoga teacher training class that you can take to get certified to be a yoga teacher and from there you can build and take more courses and make and take specializations a lot of people think that you need to be really really good at yoga before you can register for a teacher training course and that's not the case I can tell you that amongst my peers some people didn't even want to be a teacher they just wanted to further their yoga practice some people were really really good at yoga they were very strong in that sense myself I was physically not very strong in yoga at all and my knowledge of yoga was very very little so you don't have to have a lot of experience or a lot of knowledge of yoga that's what the 200 hour course was for it's a very basic foundational course so how do you decide which 200 hour class to take ask yourself if you'd like to take the training where you live or if you'd like to take it abroad also ask yourself if you'd like to do the 200 hour training in one consecutive 200 hour in hence of course or if you'd like to break it down over month or over a year I chose to break it down into three different modules personally it gave me a little bit more time to absorb the information in between and especially if you don't have 200 hours to commit to right then and there breaking it out and be an option for you also as you research the different types of schools or different places that offer the 200 hour really look and see how their curriculum is laid out and what they focus on some yoga teacher trainings will add a fitness element to the 200 hour some will be maybe more spiritual based so really look into that and see what really speaks more to you now I remember when I was looking into my yoga teacher training I was confused by what is Yoga Alliance and pretty much in a nutshell Yoga Alliance is just a third party that regulates the yoga community so after you get certified you can choose to register yourself with yoga Alliance now you do not have to at all they say that some studios and look for people who are yoga Alliance certified and have that registration to be honest of out of all the for years I've been teaching nobody has ever asked if I have Yoga Alliance registered studios have only ever asked for my certificate to prove that I do have my 200 hour certification and if you're getting insurance they will also ask for your 200 hours certification now in my opinion one of the nice things about yoga Alliance is once you register as a teacher they have these requirements for you to keep your registration so they'll ask you to do continuing education continuing classes and to me I find that that just helps keep the teachers up-to-date and keeps the teachers growing and keeps that continual education with teachers the biggest part is really deciding where you want to do your yoga teacher training and there are so many options out there that it can get very very overwhelming for myself I'm going to be honest I didn't really look around I pretty much asked a few of my yoga teachers that I looked up to and they all happen to take the teacher training at the same place so I decided to go take it there as well now after you've taken some yoga classes and you've researched where you want to do the school and you've decided and you have the financial ability to take the course it's time for you to register I remember when I registered for my yoga training my heart was beating so fast and I was just so scared and I was so nervous and I was so excited I had all of these emotions going on inside of me if you're feeling all those emotions - don't worry I felt it and I'm sure a lot of people feel it as well you have any other questions feel free to leave a comment in the comment box below and show me some love and be sure to say hello so I can follow you back and we'll see you all in the next video bye
