You can use this in your personal practice or as a study aid for yoga teacher training. Here are some benefits to doing this pose: Stretches the muscles around the hips, the groin, gluteus, quadriceps, hamstrings, and calves. May help in the case of irritable leg syndrome. This is a wonderful hip opener. May improve the flexibility of the knees. May help to avoid arthritis in the knees. This pose activates the root chakra, Muladhara.
