You feel like you must have tired your body out to the point that you need a break. But Dr. Lin is going to rock your world when he explains why you should almost always work through the shaking!

hi everyone i'm dr justin lin here at rehab revive physical therapy where we rehab the mind to revive the body today we've got a great topic we're going to talk about why i always say hold the exercise and work through the shakiness this is a big deal here because something magical happens and it's important that you at home or my patients at home understand why i say it there's a physiological reason and i say this just about to any stability or any strengthening exercise so stay tuned and learn why so let's talk about the nuts and bolts of why shakiness could possibly happen when we're doing a workout or doing a specific exercise and why it's necessary so there's two types of muscles there's the fast twitch muscle fibers and there's a slow twitch muscle fibers we call the fast twitch in our world phasic muscles and the slow twitch tonic muscles now phasic muscles or fast twitch muscles tend to work hard they work for us they give us movement they give us power or something dynamic now tonic muscles or slower twitch muscles happen to be more the type to hold or stabilize now why shakiness happens is largely based on that the ton or the tonic muscles are so weak there's no balance there's no balance between the phasic muscles or the this fast twitch and slow choices imbalance let's say i had 20 pounds of strength of fast twitch muscle fibers and only 10 pounds of strength of slow twitch muscle fibers there's an imbalance of what happens here is that when you're shaking is actually starting the vibrating is a lot of people that's when they want to quit that's what i want to give up and i tell people don't give up you want to work past it and what happens is now the signals your our brain is giving a feedback loop which is helping input and really stimulate that slow twitch to match it to 20 pounds of pressure and 20 pounds of pressure so then there's more stability and and that's basically what happens all these muscles are meant to kind of kind of lock things in i like to think of iron man when he calls for a suit [Music] and everything starts ramping and you know and that's the cool thing about what that shaking is you're integrating your brain to your body to match the balance between the fast twitch uh and slow touch muscles the phasic and the and the tonic and that's what's going to be the goal for every exercise and that's what's exciting about what we get to do here at our rehab revive because the philosophy is all about integrating it back into our system just like that iron man suit analogy so so stay tuned keep working out you'll see what's as you work out through that shakiness that things start stabilizing the shakiness goes from this to this to this and then boom you've got it it's like some of my mentors say it's a couple magnets coming together and there that's what happens so that's one way to think about it as well we're trying to integrate our system become more stable and become more powerful so if you like what we're doing below if it makes sense or you have more questions about shakiness phasing muscles tonic muscles leave some comments i'd love to help answer them clarify things a little bit better but for the most part if you start noticing all these videos why i say you know work past the shakiness and hold it till it stops this is the reason i'm dr lin remember we heal smarter not harder you
