Supta Baddhakonasana is, perhaps, among one of the most frequently practiced asana in the world of yoga therapy. From back pain to sciatica to slip disc to hormonal imbalance to groin opening to chest opening to respiratory problems to pregnancy etc.

You name it and this posture will take the lead and guess what this is safe for all and only thing you need handy is your pillows and a dupatta or a stoll.

And if you are fortunate one to have a disease-free life, lie down in this to get deeper into your inner realm.

[Music] a highly effective posture not only helps you in stress release anxiety release but takes you into deeper relaxation you can actually use the props at home so for this posture i'm going to use some stroll dupatta preferably the cotton one and some of the pillows so as you can see about this dupatta this is the stroll see the length approximately this much and how am i sitting i'm sitting like this this is butterfly posture which is very popular has got thousands of its benefits for back pain uh you know for opening up the groin for sciatica all those things i'm sitting it in this position and i'm using this stroll okay i've just got it at the back placing it at the lower back and bringing it in front you can see the two ends now i'm bringing both the ends below my edges of the feet this way and i'm crossing it over here i crossed it here see i crossed it here i'm pulling it as much as possible to make it slightly tighter not very tight this way and i'm adjusting this uh you know the the stroll at the lower back now over here i'm creating a knot see the knot see just to make it stable so this is my first posture if you just sit in this one a lot of strain or you know the stiffness the tiredness the fatigue from the lower lower back will be sorted out at the same time all the tightness in the groin you know that will start raising the hamstrings will start releasing this is your base position once you're done with that you will need few pillows you know four five six pillows you will need to put it in a slanting position and lie down on that one okay so i'm going to show how can you use the pillow and relax completely as you can see i've got one bolster and a small cushion if you don't have bolster at home just get stacks of pillow how do i arrange is very important and this could be the most relaxing position for you know like opening up your chest for kind of liberating your breath and for relaxing you at the back pain i take a slit disc you know and for opening up the lower part of the body so what i'm doing i have put this into vertical position you can stack the pillows what is important that the end part on which your head goes up that has to be slightly up and this will be very relaxing so as i can see as you can see when i'm sitting my hips are placed slightly away from the booster this slight gap okay this position i'm beginning to lie down while lying down gently i'm taking support of the palm see this position i'll have to make sure that the the the cushion is below my head if you want you can actually fold the cushion or take more i mean two questions for for a little more height and that will be even more comfortable this way see you'll have to make sure that you are relaxed and this is a very relaxing posture once you adjust you can just allow your arms to drop down allow to take it off you can just tuck your tummy in and relax you can continue to breathe deeply through the chest in this position if your arms are going up this will help you release the shoulders the tight shoulders the frozen shoulders and anyway you can feel the opening in the chest one of the most recommended for people suffering from asthma bronchitis for stress from anxiety you can just cool down in few seconds slowly take support of your hand you can place it on the floor and come up you can stay in this position somewhere starting from one or two minutes and you can go up to 15 to 20 minutes and any kind of problem which is very hyper in nature will be sorted out [Music]
