Transcript

Supine butterfly pose in a Yin Yoga
practice. So for Supine Butterfly Pose you're gonna have the soles of feet
together, just like you do in Butterfly. So you're going to keep in maintain
the same position, but you're gonna lie down on your back. Soles of the feet together, knees open here, and that's all it is. It's a general hip opening stretch, so just like you feel in Butterfly as you pitch over at the waist. You should feel that same
openness here because gravity is pushing you down.
You should feel a general openness in the hips so it's more of a relaxation
pose. Should be a comfortable pose, kind of like Child's Pose. And so all you do is
breathe here, so I recommend starting off with maybe 30 seconds, working your way up to about 3-5 minutes. Your'e welcome to place a bolster. So what this
does is gravity is already pushing you down, so you're just adding some
additional weight that gravity can work with. So gravity's pushing down
the weight of the bolster onto the legs the legs and knees further down to the
mat, and you just open up, just relax the shoulders and start to breathe. The key phrase I want you to think about when it
comes to Supine Butterfly Pose is to just simply think about relaxing at the
hips. A lot of people will tighten the hips and they'll see the knees start to
rise up to the ceiling. You want to relax the hips and just let the knees fall
down to the side. It should be an extremely comfortable position.
