What is Hot Yoga? | What is YHot at YYOGA
YYOGA hot yoga teacher trainer, Lisa Sanson, discusses what YHot is - our signature hot yoga offering - and the difference between our style and other offerings, as well as what to expect when you come to a hot yoga class.
In YHot, expect a set sequence of slow, held postures practiced in a hot room with an emphasis on alignment.
Lisa loves this practice because of the consistency it offers, allowing her to feel it in more of an easeful way. This consistency creates a groundedness in the practice -- and of course, you get a great sweat!

(relaxing music) - Hi, I'm Lisa Sanson,
and I teach yoga at YYOGA. I teach the YHot Practice as well as all the other kinds of
practices or classes at YYOGA. But today, I just wanna
talk to you a little bit about the difference
between the YHot practice and Bikram's hot practice. Bikram's was the first really,
well-known, hot sequence or hot offering here in North America. And so YHot is actually drawn
from the Bikram's lineage. We really respect the lineage. We just made a few different
changes to make, maybe, the class a little more accessible to some other populations. For example, Bikram's is very structured. They are, it's a 90-minute
sequence, and it's 26 postures and never veers from that
structure and that sequence. And though there's great
benefits in that, for sure, we decided to offer a
shorter sequence, 60 minutes, for people who maybe just
wanna get their sweat on in 60 minutes rather than 90. We also offer, it is a
set sequence, but there's 10% fluidity in the YHot offering, so their teacher will
bring in just a little bit of their own creativity. We also encourage that
students have a little bit of fluidity to explore their
optimal pose within the general guidelines of the
structure that we offer. I really enjoy the YHot
sequence, and I'd love it if you'd come and try one of my classes. I'm, again, at YYOGA
and I teach all classes, but check out my hot class. It's particularly steamy. (chuckles)
