Chair Pose Twist (alt)

Utkatasana Parivrtta (alt)

Standing · intermediate

How to

  1. Stand with your feet together, arms by your sides.
  2. Inhale deeply and as you exhale, bend your knees to lower your hips as if sitting back into a chair.
  3. Bring your palms together at your chest in Anjali Mudra (Prayer Position).
  4. Inhale to lengthen your spine, and as you exhale, twist your torso to the right, hooking your left elbow outside your right thigh.
  5. Press your palms firmly together to deepen the twist, ensuring your knees stay aligned and hips level.
  6. Turn your gaze upwards towards the ceiling, maintaining steady breath.
  7. Hold the pose for 3-5 breaths, keeping your core engaged and shoulders relaxed.
  8. To exit, inhale to untwist and return to center, then straighten your legs to stand up, returning to Tadasana (Mountain Pose).
