Revolved Half Moon

Parivrtta Ardha Chandrasana

Twist · intermediate

Glossary: Parivrtta Ardha Chandrasana

How to

  1. Begin in Utthita Trikonasana (Extended Triangle Pose) with your right foot forward, right hand on the floor or a block, and left hand on your hip.
  2. Shift your weight into your right foot, bending your right knee slightly, and step your left foot forward a few inches.
  3. Lift your left leg parallel to the floor, extending through the heel, while straightening your right leg. Keep your right hand on the floor or block directly under your shoulder.
  4. Rotate your torso to the right, stacking your left hip above your right. Extend your left arm upwards, aligning it with your right arm, forming a straight line from fingertips to fingertips.
  5. Engage your core muscles to support the twist and maintain balance. Keep your gaze (drishti) towards your left hand or down to the floor for more stability.
  6. Breathe deeply, maintaining the pose for 3-5 breaths, feeling the twist through your spine and the engagement in your core.
  7. To exit, lower your left hand to the floor, bend your right knee, and step back into Utthita Trikonasana before repeating on the opposite side.
