Namaste and Welcome to Namaste Yoga. My name is Surbhi, I am a Yoga Teacher. The goal of my Channel is to tell you all those little tips and tricks that many Yoga teachers know but somehow in class settings they do not get conveyed to the students. In today's video we are going to talk about Om Chanting. There is a lot of confusion going on, whether it is 'OM' or whether it is 'AUM' How do we Chant OM? So, let's get all that cleared today. But first lets talk about Om a little bit. Om is not just a chanting. It is kind of a Pranayama. When we chant OM. We inhale, exhale and chant OM. The exhale is supposed to be longer. We should be exhaling very slowly while chanting. When we exhale deeply and longer, it really calms our mind and body down. Sound creates vibration, and vibration provides us with the energy. So, when we combine the sound with the breath. It energizes our body and also calms us down. Whenever you chant Om, don't just chant mechanically. Just sitting and going Om Om Om Don't do that. Keep your mind in your breath Keep your breath on the sound. Feel the vibrations of the sound in the body. When you chant Om, first of all sit in any comfortable position. You can sit in Padmasana, Ardh siddhasana, Sukhasana, you can also sit on the chair It does not matter where you are sitting, as long as your posture is correct. Your spine is at its natural curve. You are not slouching down, you are not taking support of the wall or the chair. Spine should be unsupported and comfortably erect. When we have our spine this way, then the vibration of the sound energizes all the major seven chakras in the body. When we chant OM, we chant it in three different part A-U-M That is the actual sound of AUM. I want you to chant Aaaa sound with me. Keep your hands in Dhyan mudra on your lap. Sound Aaaaa comes from our belly. Close your eyes and keep your mind totally on the sound and feel the vibration on the lower region of the body. So your lower Chakras get activated. Inhale Aaaaaaaaaaaa I want you to pause this video or mute, do not listen, just listen to yourself Do it one more time after pausing the video and the feel the vibration in the lower region of the body. The second sound is Uuuuuu. This sound vibrates the middle region of the body. When we say Uuuuuu, you will feel the vibrations energizing our middle Chakras. Close your eyes. Inhale Uuuuuuuuuuuu Again, pause me, mute me, listen to yourself. Feel the vibrations. Be with those vibrations. Do not think of anything else. Do not do it mechanically. The last sound is Mmmmmm. This sound creates the vibration in our upper region. So, upper Chakras get vibrated. So, lets close our eyes and chant Mmmmmmmm One more time, do it by yourself and feel the vibrations. When we join these three sounds and chant AUM. The vibrations start in our lower Chakras and move towards our higher Chakras. That is how sound creates vibrations and those vibrations energizes our whole body and mind. So let us try chanting AUM in three different parts. Hands in Dhyan mudra on your lap. spine comfortably erect. Take a deep inhale Aaaa-Uuuu-Mmmm Do not break the sound A-U-M Naturally start with Aaaaa, then as you start to close your mouth towards Mmmmm, Uuuu will automatically come out. So, lets try chanting AUM. This time we will chant it three time continously. I hope that cleared how to chant AUM Now, one more question that might come up is; how long should we chant each sound? Does not matter. Just follow your instinct, start Chanting. The only thing is whenever you chant AUM, do not do it mechanically. Don't have all the problems of life in your mind and just go AUM AUM AUM Totally focus on the sound and feel the vibration starting in the lower Chakras and going up and feel the rotation. Be in that rotation, be in that energy. I hope you enjoyed the video today.
