Learn how to use Ujjayi Breath / Victorious Breath / Ocean Breath 🫁 👃 Hi Yogis! This is short tutorial will teach you about The Ujjayi Breath, also called Victorious Breath or Ocean Breath. This technique will enhance your Ashtanga or Vinyasa yoga practices! 🧘♀️ 🧘♂️ Ujjayi literally means “Victorious Uprising” and is quite a simple Pranayama technique with wide reaching benefits when practised during your regular practice. The sound that Ujjayi produces that encourages us to synchronise our breath with our movements during a yoga flow, making the whole yoga practice more rhythmic. It is also both energising and relaxing! The other benefits are: • Build internal heat 🔥 • Regulate body temperature 🌡️ • Aids in concentration 🤔 • Helps relieve headaches and sinus pressure 👃 Ujjayi breath benefits impact the whole cardiorespiratory system, releases emotions of stress and frustration, helps smooth mind and body. You can also practice Ujjayi Breath at any time during your day to reduce anxiety and stress and balance the mind. Practicing Ujjayi Breath Pranayama in a seated position: - Step 1: Start by sitting comfortably in Padmasana (lotus position) or any other seated position such as Siddhasana and Virasana. - Step 2: Keep your spine straight and head upright. - Step 3: Relax your mind and body and close your eyes. - Step 4: Contract your throat whilst breathing in through the nose and breathing out through the nose. - Step 5: Notice the sound (internal and audible) you are creating: ‘Ocean sound’ - Step 6: Keep the throat constriction until the end of your breathing practice Hope you enjoy this short tutorial and please leave me your comments below.
