Begin in a seated position with your legs extended straight in front of you.
Bend your right knee and place your right foot by the outside of your left hip.
Cross your left leg over your right, stacking your left knee on top of your right knee. Your left foot should be by the outside of your right hip.
Inhale to lengthen your spine, sitting tall, and exhale as you reach your right arm up and then bend the elbow, bringing your right hand down your back.
Reach your left arm out to the side, then internally rotate the arm and bring it behind your back to clasp your right hand. If your hands do not meet, use a strap.
Keep your chest lifted and your shoulders relaxed, maintaining even weight on both sit bones.
Breathe deeply, keeping the gaze soft and forward, and hold the pose for several breaths.
To exit, release your hands, uncross your legs, and gently return to a seated position.
