The first thing I would do is figure out is if you have the mobility to do this pose, which is basically flying splits in the air! Check out my demo in this video and try it yourself! If you can't yet, start by working on your flexibility first!
The second thing I would do is record yourself doing 'chaturanga' with your knee to your tricep, as shown here, and make sure your shoulders don't dip below your elbows. If they do, is it a lack of knowledge or a lack of strength? If its a lack of strength, start off with basic conditioning first.
Remember that your back leg is your power leg: keep it strong and straight. Be patient and enjoy the process!
