Cow Face Arms

Gomukhasana (arms)

Seated · beginner

How to

  1. Begin in a comfortable seated position, either cross-legged or on your knees, with your spine tall and neutral.
  2. Inhale deeply and lift your right arm straight up towards the sky, keeping the palm facing inward.
  3. Exhale as you bend your right elbow, bringing your right hand down to the base of your neck or upper back.
  4. Inhale and extend your left arm out to the side, palm facing down, then exhale as you internally rotate the arm and reach it behind your back, aiming to clasp the fingers of your right hand.
  5. If your fingers do not meet, use a strap or towel between your hands to bridge the gap.
  6. Keep your head neutral, gaze softly forward, and maintain even breath cycles, feeling an expansion in the chest with each inhale.
  7. Engage your core lightly to support your spine and keep your shoulders relaxed away from the ears.
  8. To release, gently unclasp your hands, bringing both arms down by your sides, and repeat on the opposite side.
